Introduction
Stirrup trousers (with an elastic strap under the foot) are an 80s classic making a comeback — fitted silhouette, high waist and the strap keeping trousers tucked into boots. At Andre Tan you'll find them in wool, cotton-elastane and faux leather.
Stirrup trousers sit close to the leg from waist to ankle — the under-foot strap keeps the fabric from riding up. Materials are usually stretchy: cotton with 8–12% elastane, ponte wool blend or faux leather. The waist is mid- to high-rise. Strap width matters: it should be wide enough (min. 1.5 cm) not to cut in, and made of durable material.
Classic look: stirrup trousers with over-knee boots or tall ankle boots — the boots fully cover the strap. Stirrup trousers pair with fitted tops like a tank, thin sweater or blouse with half-tucked waist. A long straight blazer over stirrup trousers balances the silhouette. Colour choice: black is most versatile, camel and grey are alternatives.
Our stirrup trousers are cut for European leg lengths. The strap is velcro-adjustable so length can be tuned. The waistband contains an interior elastic that holds the trousers in place during movement. Cotton inner layer for wearing comfort.
