Introduction
A polo shirt is the classic between T-shirt and shirt — with a collar but without buttons all the way down. At Andre Tan you'll find classic piqué cotton polos, slim-fit models with elastane and winter polos in merino wool.
Piqué cotton is the classic polo fabric — textured, breathable and shape-holding. Cotton with elastane (5–8%) makes the polo stretchy and figure-defining. Merino wool polos are warmer and don't itch — ideal for autumn. The button placket usually has 2–3 mother-of-pearl or plastic buttons. The collar is rib-knit, which gives it stability. Check the cuff style: rib-knit cuffs sit tighter and read more sporty.
A white piqué polo with Bermuda shorts and loafers is a summer classic. For daily wear, pair a polo in navy or beige with high-waist jeans or chinos. A slim-fit polo in cotton-elastane tucked into a pencil skirt gives a preppy business look. For transitional weather, choose a long-sleeve merino polo that layers under a blazer.
Our polos are cut with particular attention to the shoulder line — the seam sits exactly at the shoulder edge, not above or below. The collar is stiffer than standard polos, so it doesn't stretch out with washing. The piqué is medium weight (200–240 g/m²), which prevents see-through.
