Introduction
A coat is the piece you see most often — it sits over everything and must last for years. At Andre Tan you'll find women's coats in wool, cashmere and alpaca blends, cut classic, tailored or oversize.
Wool blends (70–100% wool) are the standard for quality coats — they insulate well, resist water and hold shape. Cashmere blends are softer and warm at lower weight but are more delicate. Alpaca blends have a subtle sheen and are particularly light for the warmth they give. Weight: 350–450 g/m² for transitional, 450–650 g/m² for winter. A good coat has a viscose lining inside that slides smoothly over sweaters.
A tailored coat with belt flatters any figure and works for business and casual. Oversize coats read modern and are practical when you wear thick sweaters underneath. Cocoon coats have a soft rounded cut and are particularly comfortable. Colour rule: camel, navy, black and grey are investment colours — you'll wear them 5+ years. Coloured coats work but are less versatile.
Our coats are made from wool fabrics sourced from Italian and German mills. Buttons are horn or high-quality plastic, seams double-finished. Collars contain plastic stays that hold shape after many wears. Lining is viscose or viscose-polyester blend.
